Children's Audioguide

The cathedral of Ourense offers very special audioguides, designed for the youngest members of the family. We know that approaching art and heritage can sometimes be difficult if the right language isn’t used. That’s why we create accessible and entertaining stories, which allow for the development of an emotional connection with the cultural and religious heritage of Lugo. The goal is to encourage observation, curiosity, and love for the Cathedral of Lugo and its rich artistic and religious heritage, turning the visit into a participatory experience rather than just passive storytelling.

What will children hear in their audioguides when they visit the Cathedral of Ourense?

Through a dynamic tour full of surprises, the youngest visitors will be able to discover the secrets of this impressive temple with the help of two very special guides: Mariña, a curious and enthusiastic girl; and San Martiño, the wise and magical protector of the cathedral. In this audioguide, children won’t just listen to the story of the cathedral—they will become protagonists of the visit. Because they will need to keep in mind a final mission at all times! San Martiño will invite them to “catch with their eyes” important details of the temple, in order to capture the soul of the cathedral and always carry it in their hearts.

Learning in the cathedral. Multiple challenges and adventures!

Throughout the tour, children will explore the cathedral in an active way, always aware of the importance of the place they are in. Various resources are used during the visit to encourage curiosity and engagement in the tour. San Martiño presents them with small challenges—from finding fantastic animals on the stone capitals, to riddles and stories. This way, they’ll discover, for example, that the choir is made up of beautiful wooden seats watched over by Sibyls and giant angels; that the altarpieces are like comic books made of paintings and sculptures; or that the sculptures of the Portico of Paradise can smile down from above. This approach aims to help them understand even more complex concepts, such as the function of the altar and the Eucharist, or the symbolism of God through light.

These audioguides are available in Galician, Spanish, and English. They are recorded in specialized studios, with professional voice actors. This way, the dialogues feel more real, relatable, theatrical, and dynamic, turning each visit into a true adventure for the ears and the imagination.
